Da Bears vs. Da Bulls

in February I might have to choose between the Jets and the Giants, but before that, Republicans might have to choose between Michael Steele and Newt Gingrich.
A battle to take the reins of the Republican National Committee is taking off between former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Maryland Lieutenant Gov. Michael Steele.
Republicans close to each man say they are intent on ousting Mike Duncan when his tenure ends in January and to insert themselves to articulate a counter-agenda to President-elect Barack Obama´s administration.
A bevy of backers for each man, neither of whom is an RNC member, have been burning up the phone lines and firing off e-mails as they try to sway the 168 RNC members in the wake of the second consecutive drubbing of Republicans at the polls.
Who knows how accurate the story is, but if really does come down to Steele and Gingrich, we can’t go wrong with either choice.
I really do think that the GOP needs an ideas man, and Newt is such a person. Heading up the RNC would be an ideal position for Newt. It’s not elected office, and he would not quite be the public face of the Republican party, which is a good thing. But when it comes to strategy and laying out conservative principles in a way that can appeal to the electorate, Newt’s the man.
On the other hand, Steele represents a new direction for the party. He’s just as eloquent as Newt, and he does not come with any of the baggage. But he doesn’t quite have Newt’s experience, and while that can be overrated, in a position like head of a national party committee, that means something. Granted Howard Dean excelled at the job for the other party without really having the background to suggest that he would, so perhaps we don’t necessarily need to have someone with Newt’s pedigree.
Honestly, if either man does eventually land the gig, at least it’s a sign that the party is moving in the right direction (pun intended) for a change.

Ya know I’ve been getting a lot of people searching for your site ending up at mine:

Maybe we could do some sort of link exchange and try to end the confusion.
Thanks,
