Behold the power of Rush
January 28, 2009 | 4 Comments
As someone who continues to be a big fan of Rush Limbaugh, I am more than a little amused that Phil Gingrey has to go running with his tail between his legs to go on Rush’s show in order to explain his comments published yesterday in the Politico.
“I think that our leadership, Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, are taking the right approach,” Gingrey said. “I mean, it’s easy if you’re Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh or even sometimes Newt Gingrich to stand back and throw bricks. You don’t have to try to do what’s best for your people and your party. You know you’re just on these talk shows and you’re living well and plus you stir up a bit of controversy and gin the base and that sort of that thing. But when it comes to true leadership, not that these people couldn’t be or wouldn’t be good leaders, they’re not in that position of John Boehner or Mitch McConnell.”
Now Gingrey is on with Rush, and backtracking mightily. Admittedly, even the published comments aren’t as harsh as they were made out to be, but is there any greater sign that it is political suicide for a conservative politician to speak against the Don of the conservative movement than this?
Meanwhile, there is a petition drive to have Congress condemn Rush Limbaugh’s remarks last week where he indicated that he wants President Obama to fail. Again, this is just awesome. Rush loves it, and it does nothing but affirm that he is completely under their skin – which is also true of President Obama’s foolish comments from last week.
Considering the fact that Rush is far more well-spoken and willing to give it as well as he takes it, I welcome the Democratic party’s efforts to concentrate their firepower on Rush. It is a dumb political strategy, but it just affirms that the party in power in America is unable to get out if own way.

Rush couldn’t be happier. In fact, I surmise that Rush is much happier than if McCain had won. Offense is easier than defense in Rush’s game, and now he has a target rich environment – with a thin skin. He is a wordsmith with his own network and an opponent who has to speak, does it get any better?
I hate having to listen to Rush Limbaugh’s show for the senator I work for. But someone has to keep tabs on the hate he says everyday. I’ve gone to the DCCC’s website, and I hope everyone else does also.

Why does the Senator you work for make you listen to Rush? Are you guys spying on him? Don’t you have Media Matters helping you out?

Let me guess – for you, hate = saying things you disagree with.
The Democrats are like the Bourbons, they have forgotten nothing and they have learned nothing. Roll on 2010!
