The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a report titled, “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.”  No, it is not a joke.

Here is what the DHS is defining as extremism:

Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.

So, according to the DHS, the Framers of the US Constitution were extremist right-wingers who, if they were alive today, would be subject to heightened surveillance.  After all, they believed in this thing called federalism, which meant that the federal government – while stronger than the national government under the Articles of Confederation – should be limited in scope and should largely let the states handle most pressing concerns.

And only in a fucked up world can the people who oppose murdering unborn children be labeled as the extremists.

This is chilling:

Rightwing extremists are harnessing this historical election as a recruitment tool. Many rightwing extremists are antagonistic toward the new presidential administration and its perceived stance on a range of issues, including immigration and citizenship, the expansion of social programs to minorities, and restrictions on firearms ownership and use. Rightwing extremists are increasingly galvanized by these concerns and leverage them as drivers for recruitment. From the 2008 election timeframe to the present, rightwing extremists have capitalized on related racial and political prejudices in expanded propaganda campaigns, thereby reaching out to a wider audience of potential sympathizers.

Yes folks, opposition to dear leader is now categorized as extremism.  No need to worry folks.  The government would certainly never dream of using such an anlysis to justify curtailing the rights of Americans to speak out in opposition to the President.  That’s just crazy talk.

The amazing thing is that such a document is the very sort of thing that only fans the flames of “extremism,” as it becomes readily apparent that this government is concerned with protecting its power no matter what.

So the NSA may be watching this blog because it qualifies as a extremist group. Did they use the word “terrorist” yet?

I would love to see a conservative administration come in and label the ACLU or NARAL as extremist.

Would y’all save me one of the top bunks at the Dissenter’s Gulag?

I figure crankywife and I can cover the sewing of our official dissenter’s badges on all of our clothing, as well.

I find it wildly ironic that it’s only taken Zero sixty days to become what the Left said GWB was for the last eight years.
