Rich Leonardi has the scoop on a missive sent by the Hamilton County Democratic Party. As Rich says, they showed which word in the name “Catholic Democrats” they value most highly.
The text reads (my comments in red):
On behalf of Catholic Democrats – a call to action (How very Marxist)
If you haven’t already, please sign this survey on the Cincinnati Enquirer to disagree with the bishops on opposing that President Obama speak at ND. (That is just a putrid display of grammar) The survey is dead even now, we have to send a clear message to the archbishop that partisan politics needs to stop! (So the person who heads a group called Catholic Democrats is opposed to partisan politics? Umm, that does not compute. And what exactly is partisan about upholding the dignity of human life?)
Please go and take the survey and forward it onto your like-minded friends.
Also, my letter made it into the Catholic Telegraph, (hopefully it wasn’t as poorly written as this) but principals should have been principles, (whoops, guess not) oh well, so much for the editors! (Ugh. She even breaks out the exclamation point. Could this get any more insipid?) It is good to frame the debate that this ND “scandal” (Oooooh, scare quotes. How very progressive of you) is about supporting the Republican platform’s view of life issues. (Wow, there’s a lot to unpack here. Evidenly ole Lisa thinks that opposition to abortion is a Republican issue. While I’m grateful that someone still thinks so, one would think that an obstensibly “Catholic” [I can use scare quotes too] organization would be a little more cognizant of their Church’s position on the issue. They might be pleasantly surprised to learn that opposition to abortion runs a little deeper. But at least Lisa helpfully demonstrates the fact that to this organization, the Democratic Party’s pro-abortion platform trumps the Catholic Church’s unequivocal opposition to abortion. It’s nice to have a crystal clear example that to Catholic Democrats, it’s about the party before all other considerations.)
Thanks for your rapid response on this! (Sure thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Twit.)
