-Does Chris Dodd smell what’s cooking?

World Wrestling Entertainment Inc (WWE.N) said Chief Executive Linda McMahon resigned to run for the U.S. Senate and named Chairman Vince McMahon to the post.

Linda McMahon, a co-founder of the company and wife of Vince McMahon, plans to contest from the state of Connecticut, the company said in a statement.

Linda is the McMahon that has spent the least amount of time in front of the camera, so she might actually pull this off.  And before you get all snooty about it, rememeber that the WWE is nowhere near as tastleless as the organization that forced them to get rid of the F.

H/t: Large Bill.

- It seems that eight percent of New Jersey voters believe that Barack Obama is the anti-Christ, and another 13 percent are “not sure,” meaning that just under 80 percent of New Jersey natives are fully convinced that Barack Obama is not literally the spawn of Satan.  We can act all surprised, but it is New Jersey we’re talking about.  All those noxious fumes have to take their toll sometime.  Amazingly, only 58 percent of Hispanics polled expressed their complete confidence in Obama’s Satanic-free status.  Racists.

As Joe Carter said in his Google Reader comment:

This is just silly.  Anyone who truly thinks that Obama is the Anti-Christ should ask themselves one question: Would the Anti-Christ really be this incompetent?

- John Stewart of all people picks up on the ACORN story and mocks the media for getting scooped.

- The Daily News might just be guilty of engaging in hyperbole here.

It was partly Catholic church’s reaction to “The Da Vinci Code” that drove him underground. The novel put forth that Jesus Christ married Mary Magdalene and begot a line of lesser royalty in the south of France. That thinking wasn’t original, but it was still incendiary and didn’t sit well with many Catholics up to and including the Vatican.

Certainly Pope Benedict XVI is no fan. His first book as pontiff was “Jesus of Nazareth” and was seen as a corrective to Brown’s heretical depiction of the savior.

Yes, Pope Benedict has devoted his entire life to the Church and to the life of Jesus Christ.  But it wasn’t until he picked up The DaVinci Code that he decided that it was time to write his reflections on the life of our Lord.  Good job, Sherryl Connelly.

BTW, I love how she writes that the Church’s response drove Brown underground.  Yeah, I remember all those fatwas issues against Brown then the book was released.  The guy has had to spend the last five years of his life claiming sanctuary at Metropolitan Community Church in DC.  That’s actually why he set his latest novel in our fair city.

If she promises to put Dodd in the Sharpshooter and appoints William Regal to some office, I’ll contribute to her campaign fund.

Who knew I was ahead of the curve on the whole Obama as Anti-Christ thing?

Also hope that anyone named McMahon goes nowhere near political office (especially as a Republican). The baggage surrounding the tens (hundreds?) of employees who have died either during or after working for WWE is a…killer.

I love how people are so quick to point out how the McMahon’s and their family business are associated with substance abuse, violence, death, shady dealings, cover-ups, etc. etc., and how that will all but guarantee her failure in the political sphere.

So, to borrow (ironically enough) from WWE to make my point, I have just 1 word in response to the criticism:

    KENNEDY…!!!

    (Kennedy…)

    (OK, two words)
