Paging Dr. Zummo

September 24, 2009 | 1 Comment

My post last night quoting at length from the Federalist Papers sparked a little something in me.  I absolutely believe that an understanding of the Federalist Papers is essential for understanding the U.S. Constitution and, therefore, understanding America.  So I’ve decided to start what will be a daily feature here: an analysis of each number of the Federalist Papers.

I haven’t totally decided if I will go over each one in detail.  Some are less interesting than others.  I might occasionally combine two or three, but I hope to at least glance at all 85.  Also, daily time constraints might make it impossible to do this every single day, but I promise to make an effort to do this as close to regularly as possible.  It might wind up being every other day.  We’ll see how things develop.

Of course I’ll keep blogging about other things, but I was beginning to worry that my political theory analysis skills would atrophe if I didn’t take a fresh look at these essential documents.

So look for Federalist One in the next 24-48 hours.

Awesome. Looking forward to it. Agree 100% on the importance of the Fed Papers. I have a manuscript on a seemingly unrelated topic that draws extensively on the Madison SOP papers.
