Fox News calls it for Owens
November 4, 2009 | 3 Comments
It looks like I mixed up my Corzine and Hoffman predictions. Disappointing, and perhaps Scozzafava’s endorsement swung things for Owens. That sure was $900,000 well spent, GOP.

Oh, and about New York . . . City, that is

Mike Bloomberg may be a nanny-state nuisance, and his re-election has been a lot closer than I would have expected, but it is still a remarkable victory in one sense. This now marks the fifth consecutive mayoral election in which the Democrats failed to win in a city where Democrats outnumber Republicans by something like [...]

Fox News, NBC, and the AP are now all calling the New Jersey race for Christie. I’m sure the Corzine camp will scour every grave they can before they concede, but this is a pleasant surprise. I thought Corzine would pull out a squeaker, and who knows what ACORN can pull out before everything is [...]

No surprise as Bob McDonnell cruises to victory in Virginia. Virginia might be a purple state, but it’s one with a reddish hue. My condolences to the Washington Post, as their efforts to derail yet another GOP candidate fell juuuuuuuuuuust a bit short.

Electability

All that being said, I would like to thank my fellow Republicans who put principle and rationality aside and decided to vote for the “safe” and “electable” candidate. How did that work out for ya? Hey, it’s not like we had an obvious example four years ago from the other party on why that wasn’t [...]

City of God

The natural feeling for many of us tonight is despair. I don’t think it’s wrong to feel incredibly pessimistic about the way our country is heading. But I would advise you to pick up St. Augustine’s City of God before you throw yourself off a cliff. The fact of the matter is we live in [...]

McCain-Feingold

Though I don’t necessarily relish seeing McCain lose tonight, it’s somewhat funny to think that his major legislative accomplishment played a fairly significant role in his defeat. Another bit of irony: the only thing preventing a filibuster-proof Democratic majority in the Senate is McCain’s loss in the presidential election. Because otherwise his replacement would have [...]

2/3 of Hispanics voted for Obama in New Mexico

Yeah, support for the “comprehansive” immigration reform package was a real sure-fire electoral winner for the GOP. That Karl Rove is a genius. (More on that later.)

Looking at Carl levin’s photo, I can’t help but wonder if he’ll be singing “Puttin’ on the Ritz” tonight.

New Mexico called for Obama. And now Ohio is also called. I for one welcome our new socialist overlords. Update: The Ohio call was an error, but the NM loss, coupled with the inability to carry Minnesota, means it is over. Update II: Forgot about Iowa. But the prospects there are pretty bleak.

At least Georgia stays in the (R) column. I was getting nervous there, but it looks like the Dems are going to have to run the table on the remaining too close to call Senate seats to attain filibuster-proof status. Now, I think that we’ve been making too much of that number because it ignores [...]
