So I get back from vacation anxious to read your insights into all that I missed while I was gone and find this instead? You should have at least waited until after the November elections were over.

;-)

Hate to see you go, Paul. But I definitely understand. I've cut back considerably on my blogging over the past year, and doubt I'll do much more than 1 or 2 posts a week for the foreseeable future.

CrankyCon,

All the best going forward. Hey, for most of us blogging is a hobby and like with any hobby there are times where real life concerns take precedence as they should. Heck, I have several unopened boxes of baseball cards from the 1980's still to sort through. Appreciated your even tempered well thought out positions on politics, religion and sports.

Take care and God bless

Bruce Springsteen's son, according to Bruce during an interview, said his Dad would never retire because he is an attention whore. He laughed about the comment. Al Sharton is no different. The little girl here in Detroit who was killed during a police raid, brought Al Sharton running to Michigan. He loved the cameras pointing at him. Shortly after he was gone from sight and view.
I guess I was hoping he might stick around for six months or a year and help the city of Detroit turn around all the senseless killing, crime, and hating. He seems to think he has all the answers to change America. Stay and put all your energy and effort into something positive Al. All your words do nothing but inflame the situations that you are there for.And only because they are self promoting. You like Bruce, are in need of attention. And then you move on.
Has all your words really done anything to help America? Has all the hate, killing, and crimes stopped because of your viewpoints?

CC -- Whether on sports, politics, religion, wrestling, or pretty much any topic in between, your blogging has always been insightful and entertaining...even the Monday rants! I've enjoyed your opinions over the years and also the frequent debate they were known to produce in the comments below. And who knows? There's still time and forums for you to come around to the merits of Thomas Jefferson and Gordon Liddy! :-) Best of luck always, Paul!

I've been a lurking reader for a long time, and commented once a few weeks ago when I discovered our Regis connection. I'll miss the blog, but understand the need to stop. It's a lot of work. Best wishes.

I'm stunned that McCulloch v. Maryland didn't make your list. This is the decision(1815) that ruled that the constituion is not a contract and that the Bill of Rights are suggestions. The decision ruled that the Constittuion - as written - posed too harsh limitations upon government and that states had no sovereignty. The written Constituion is merely a guide to be followed whenever possible.

In fact, it took the 10th Amendment as the basis of the decision. The 10th says that government shall have no power unless it is granted by the Constitution. The court said that it should be interpreted to read that Congress shall have every power unless it is prohibited by the constitution. This, of course, was also overturned so that now government of strict, limited, and specified powers is now all-powerful.

It is from this decision that all political corruption stems.

But then, you're not really a conservative. You're a Catholic. These are two very different things. A Conservative does not lobby for thought police or religious intolerance as you do.
